Und noch ein Host Family Letter ;)

Hey Leute

  1. Hab ich genug über meine Persönlichkeit geschrieben?
  2. Hab ich genug über meine Familie geschrieben?

Danke schonmal für eure Antworten :grinning:

"Dear host family,

Thank you so much for giving me the possibility to stay in the USA for a year and for letting me become a member of your family!
I am really looking forward to living in the USA for such a long time and I belive it would be a great experience for me. I am a little sad to leave my family and all my friends for a year, but I think I will make good friends in America too and that it is going to be an exciting year. In this letter I would like to tell you about me, my life, my family and my friends, so that you can get to know me better.

My name is Sebastian Rohe and I was born on the 4th of June in 1992 in a city called Lohne, Germany. As you see in my photos I have red hair and light eyes. I am not that tall but I am not that short either. About 26,000 people are living in Lohne. It’s not that big here, but there is anything here you need: my school, a cinema, a church, an outdoor swimming-pool and most important of all, most of my friends live here.

My family lives in the part of town called “Südlohne”. It is an area where there is nothing except a lot of fields, pastures, and a few houses. We are living in a half-timbered-house in the middle of grain and corn fields. It is nice and quiet here but I have the longest way to school of all my classmates. My father is 43 years old. In the morning he works at my uncle’s carpentry business and in the afternoon he works in his home office – he’s an architectural engineer. My mother is also 43 years old. She does most of the housework and also helps my father with his office. I have an 11-year-old brother and a sister who is 13 years old. They are at the same school as I am, the “Gymnasium Lohne”. I really get along with my family. We often do things together on the weekend like driving to the nearest bigger town or doing other activities. We also have two dogs – one german sheep called “Oscar” and a Jack Russel Terrier called “Rolly”. My father loves to ride so we have two horses. I also have two mice: at first they were living in a terrarium in my bedroom, but they made such loud noises at night that I could hardly fall asleep, so I put them into the room where we children usually watch TV and where my piano is in.

I’m attending the 10th grade of the “Gymnasium Lohne. There are 24 students in my class. The school in Germany starts at 8 a.m. and I have a long way to school so I get up at 6:30 a.m. every morning. The subjects I like most are English, because I really like the language, and History and Politics, because I find these subjects interesting and I think it’s important to now what happens around the world. I also really like Art and Music, but I don’t enjoy science that much. Usually school is over by 1:15 p.m. Then I go home, eat lunch and do my homework.

In the afternoons I normally meet friends or practice my hobbies. I have been playing the piano for two years now and it’s very important to me. I usually practice 20 minutes a day. I am also member of the Musical Theater group at our school. We are rehearsing the whole year and each summer we have about 15 performances. At the moment I also do an advanced ballroom dance course. I am also member of the youth fire department in Südlohne. We don’t really do much fire department stuff at all, because most of the time we eat ice cream or just hang out but it’s a lot of fun because most of the teanagers from Südlohne are members. On the weekends I meet my friends and we go to the cinema, to the town, swimming, ice skating or do other activities. I also do a paper route once a month and tutor younger students once a week to supplement my allowance.

In general, I am an upfront and active person. I don’t like to stay at home all day and do the same things all the time. That is one reason I would like to go to the USA because of the possibility to have so many new experiences. I am not a shy person and so I think it would not be such a big problem to me to make contacts or friends in America.
I already visited the USA in the summer in 2006. I stayed with my cousin in St. Louis. She has been living in the USA for about 10 years. I stayed for 3 weeks at her place and we went on a short trip to Florida too. It was a great experience and I really like the country!
I am really excited to experience the American way of living for a whole year. I know it is not an easy thing to do to let a complete stranger into your house and I am very thankful for this opportunity you are giving me.

I am really exited to meet you!

Best wishes"
