Dear host family,

first of all I’m very glad that you are interested in my person and maybe give me the opportunity to spend a year with you in America. You don’t know me yet, so I would like to tell you something about me.

My name is Jana XX and I´m 24 years old. I was born in Tallinn it is the capital of Estonia.
When I was three years old my parents and I move to Germany.
I live with my parents in XX, it´s a small town in the middle of germany. It is near Frankfurt about 160.000 inhabitants.
My mother is 49 years old. She works as a geriatric nurse. My father is 50 years old and he work as a truck driver. Unfortunately is my father only at the wekkends at home during the week is he abroad of the way. My familiy are very important for me, because they always support me, if I need help or have any worries. My grandma is very important for me too. She lives in a small village near our town. I try to visit her a couple times a week and spent a some time with her. I always go to buy groceries for her or we go out for a walk together. Sometimes we play cards or watch some TV .
I alway love to spent my free time with my friends. We like to go in the cinema , visit concerts or going shopping. When the weather is good we go swimming or made a trip to a lake where we can swim or play some badminton or volleyball. Also in the summer we organize barbecue with all friends where we prepare together the meal and some salads.
When I´m on my own i enjoy reading ,listinng music and cooking.
After I finished High School I sarted a vocational education as a dental assistant. I work 40 hours every week and I know what it means to work more than have leisure time. After I finished these three years education I decide to go back to school to became my A- level but I´m still work as a dentel assistant now.
At the moment I am learning a lot for my final examination to get my A-Level and after that I looking forward to become an au pair. After my year in the USA I want to study International Health Management.
There are many reasons for me why I want to be an Au Pair: Taking care of children, living together with a family in a new and unknown country, learning something about the culture, meeting new friends from the whole world, studying at a college and not at last to improve my English knowledge.
I have many experience with carring about kids.
I always take care of my little cousin Daniel, he is 6 years old and he is pretty colse to me. I usally pick him up from the kindergarden and than we spent time together. I prepare him a meal and than we make some jigsaw puzzle, build something with lego or we go out by bike. He always enjoyed the time on the playground. We build castles in the sand or drive with the slide or I push him on a swing. I teach him to write and read his name, other names of the relatives and a few other words. And it´s exciting to see how he is going ahead. We also started to calculate some easy maths tasks. It was a big help for him as he started to go to the first class. At the moment we start to read the clock. On the weekends he sometimes stay overnight with me when his parents on the night shifts. We brush teeth together and I read a bedtime story for him.
Since I was 20 years old I carry about Nils when his parents on work or they want to go out. Now he is 10 years old. I preapre meals for him when he arrived from school and help him with his homework. When the weather is fine we play some football, badminton in the garden or we ride with the bikes in the village. We also go out for a walk with the neighbor dog. We go to the cinema together or we visit the circus.
I also care about Clara she is 3 years old. Her mother is a Single mother and she sometimes need help with her little doughter especially when she have to work longer or she have other appointments than I pick up Clara from the kindergarden. I cook for her something to eat and after that we play something or we paint. She is a very open - minded and sweet girl and it is easy to find new activitys to make with her till her mother arrived. Sometimes when her mother wants to go out in the evning I help Clara to fallen asleep. We read a book together ,that she can choose and during I read she fall fast asleep. Sometimes I look after my godchild Vivian too. She is 4 years old now. She likes to drawing and kneading. She is a very creative little girl. We do handicrafts a lot with thing that we find in the nature. We use leaves that we find in the garden or twigs. She likes to draw with watercolors ,wax crayons and chalk. And I think we have painted neary thausend pictures.
I´m a very open- minded woman who is always friendly and reliable. Becouse of my senetive, appreciative and mature way I know how to handel kids in difficulte situations, for example it they in a bad mood or crying all the time. I´m very punctual and tidy. And I´m very imaginative person so I think your children would like me and we would have a wonderful and funny time together.
So I hope you could get to know me a little bit better.
In conclusion, I would like to thank you very much for taking your time to get to know me better. I am looking forward to being an Au Pair and also a family member in your family and to spend a great and unforgettable year.

There are many reasons for me why I want to be an Au Pair: Taking care of children, living together with a family in a new and unknown country, learning something (hier wäre besser: more!) about the culture, meeting new friends from the whole world, studying at a college and at least to improve my English knowledge.
I have many experience with taking care about kids.
I always take care of my little cousin Daniel, he is 6 years old and he is pretty close to me. I prepare meals for him when he comes home from school and help him with his homework. We go to the cinema together or we visit the circus.

She is a very open - minded and sweet girl and it is easy to find new activities to make (wär es nicht schöner: it is very easy to find new activities to make her happy?) her until her mother arrives. Sometimes when her mother wants to go out in the evening I put Clara to bed. We read a book together ,that she can choose and during I read she falls asleep fastly. Sometimes I look after my godchild Vivian, too. She is 4 years old now. She likes drawing and kneading. She is a very creative little girl. In conclusion, (schreibst du eine formelle Zusammenfassung??) I would like to thank you very much for taking your time to get to know me better. I am looking forward to being an Au Pair and also beening a member of your family and to spend a great and unforgettable year with you.

Hi,

ich finde deinen letter gut. Du fährst ja in das Land um die Sprache zu lernen. Man sollte also nicht von Austauschschülern erwarten, dass sie in der jeweiligen Sprache schon perfekt sind.
