Mein Brief an die Homestay-Koordinatorin/ Gastfamilie

Hey!

My name is Wiebke and before I start telling you something about me I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to spent half a year in Australia.
I am 16 years old and live with my parents and my cat in a house in Kiel.
Kiel is a city (I think it´s quite a big one) at the Baltic. The nearness to the sea is very important to me and I think I can´t live in any town, where´s no sea close-by. In the summer I go to the beach often. Most time by bike, because I only need 10 minutes to get to there. My school is in Kiel and I go there by bike, too. It´s only 10 minutes away, as well. My favorite subject in school is Biology. I like all sciences and have a plan for my future yet. I would like to study medicine, if my marks admitt it. I Have been interested in medicine for nearly two years and I am especial interested in forensic medicine. Thats a cause, why I would like to go to the Sunshine Beach State High School, while I´m in Australia. I heard, that I am able to choose this subject at this school and so I informed myself and was enthused about Noosa and the school.
Beside my interest in medicine I like to do sports. I am a very aktive girl and do Triathlon and Volleyball. Actually I like both the same but sometimes I need a sport, which I do alone and sometimes I need one, where I can be part of a team. I Have been doing them for a long time and started doing Triathlon, when I was eight. I train four times a week and sometimes it´s very stressful. When I am in Australia I will test other things and not do the same I used to do in Germany. For example I would like to learn surfing and if it´s possible I would love to do Skydiving one time.
When I´m not at practices, competitiones or school I like to relax. Watching TV or reading a book is a good balance for my sport. And I need one day a week to be completly lazy. At the weekend I go on parties with my friends or in cinema. What we do together depends on the season. In the summer I am at the beach every weekend wether to swim, relax or have fun at beach-parties. In the winter we often meet at home to talk and drink coffee, hot chocolate or tea.
Now I would like to tell you something about my family, because family is very important to me. My mother is often at home, when I wake up and when I come from school, I love her and I nearly tell her everthing. My father wakes up earlier and leaves the house while I´m sleeping. He comes back from work at four o`clock, when I am not at home, because I have practices. But I see him in the evening and at the weekend, as well. I have no sisters or brothers so my parents had a lot of time for me when I was young. It would make me really happy to have brothers or sisters while my life in Australia, just to make another experience in the family life, as well.
My Family and I used to spent every holiday with camping, in Denmark for example. I have never been out of Europe so I am very exited to see another continent.
The idea of spending a semester in a different country came five months ago. I did one exchange visit with England in year eight and all the experiences and impressions I got there were worth the homesickness during the first days.
I would like to experience now a life far away from home and that not only for two weeks like my visit in England but for half a year, to have the opportunity not only to have a look the life of another family but to live in the family, in another country, in another culture. To get to learn other things like the culture, the language English and the life down under would make me very happy. I can´t really tell you the reason I choosed Australia, but it´s a country, which fascinated me. I read a lot about it and the more I read and see about Australia the less I can wait to fly there.

(Hello und Abschiedsgruß, wollte ich mit der Hand schrieben)
