Dear host family,
First of all I want to say thank you for reading this letter and for give me a chance to spend almost a year by you. Well, we don’t know each other so I try to introduce my family, my friends and my life here in Germany.
My name is Annika Thomsen and I’m living in *****, a small village with 2400 inhabitants. ***** is in the north of Germany and near to Hamburg. I live there with my mum, *****, and with my dad, *****. I don’t have a sister or a brother, but I’ve got two budgies.
My mum works as a nurse and my dad works as a captain at the federal police. Often my dad is away from home, because of his work. So my mum and I are often alone at home and I have to help her with our house. I often tidy up my room, I clean the dishes and I also help my mum to wash our clothes.
When my father is at home, I help him to clean our cars or we drive to the Baltic Sea or the North Sea.
My grandparents live far away from me, so I can’t see them very often. Only when there’s a birthday or at Christmas I can see them. But sometimes, we drive to them for a weekend.
My friends are the most important thing in my life. I’ve got many good friends at my school and three of them are my best friends. We are all in the same class. In summer, we are often at the swimming-pool or we eat ice-cream. In winter, we go to the cinema or we are at the bowling- center. Every Saturday we have a dancing training, which is always very funny.
My passion is singing. I have singing training for one and a half year and I hope, that I can also sing when I’m in the USA. I also play the keyboard and some years ago I had keyboard training.
Once a week, I play tennis in Wrist. Since 2005 I’ve got tennis training and it’s always great fun. I play it with a good friend, who I know since I went to the kindergarten.
At the age of six, my parents and I went to Florida for two weeks. We drove through the whole state and we saw a lot. All the people who we met were very friendly to us. Since that trip, I want to go to the USA again and now I’ve got the chance to spend almost a year in that amazing country.
