Letter so okay?

Hey Leute,

wie findet ihr meinen Dear-Host-Family-Letter?
Bitte ehrliche Meinungen bzw. Verbesserungsvorschläge

Dear host family,

I am really grateful to have the chance to live in your country for a year to get to know the culture, the language and the „American way of life“. I chose the United States for my student exchange because I have always been impressed by the landscape and the people when I spent my vacations there. Furthermore, my aunt living in Kentucky and friend of mine having lived in Tennessee for seven years, advised me to choose the USA.
My greatest wish is to spend some wonderful months in a foreign land where I can learn more about other folks, other cultures and maybe about me, too.

You are giving me the chance to fulfill my desire even if you haven’t got to know me yet. Therefore I will present myself to you now. So you may get a little impression of the person that is going to live with you in the following months.

My name is Chiara MmM.
Everyone in my family and in my circle of friends just calls me Chia.
I’m at the age of 15 and I am coming from XxX, a little town in the Southwest of Germany. I’m about 5 feet 9 inches tall, have dark long hairs and green-brown eyes. I am really interested in music- I have been playing the piano since I was a four year old girl. Some years later I started taking vocal lessons and writing my own lyrics. Actually, writing is one of my biggest interests at all. I have written two books up to now and I’m topically working on the third one what is great fun for me. When I am not singing, playing the piano or writing, I love travelling or going to rock concerts. Then, I’m interested in painting, photographying, journalism, reading, shopping and languages. At the moment, I’m voluntarily learning Spanish because this subject is not offered at my school.
Concerning sports, I like badminton, different kinds of dancing like freestyle and hip-hop (even if this is not the music I’m usually listening to), jogging, swimming and in summer term, playing tennis, too.
My friends are important for me as well. We spend a lot of time together.
For us, it’s fun to watch films, promenade in parcs or have an ice cream. Sometimes we go partying on the weekend or we just chill out at home.
I’m a girl that loves to be in action, I like positive stress better than hanging around while being bored. The bottom line is that I am a really creative person, interested in every new experience. I am polite as I think, always optimistic, friendly, liberal, tolerant and self-contained. Even if I represent my own opinion, I am very open-minded towards other opinions. I try to understand and accept people the way they are and I expect the same for me.

My family means a lot to me.
My father comes from Sicily, Italy and my mother has always lived in XxX.
So I grew up bilingually what may give reason to my interest in foreign languages and mentalities- I have never known anything else.
With my parents, I share a close relationship, I think it’s because they are always trying to understand me and give me a lot of freedom to make my own decisions. They want me to be self-confident and they always help me when I need it.
I have a brother named YyY, he’s six years old.
My brother, he’s really important for me. Many evenings we’re spending our time in playing games, watching TV or just joking together. Whenever he has a soccer play, I stand beside the pitch to cheer for him.
We’re living near my German grand-parents and near the sister of my mother 'cause even with them I spend much time. So you see that I am a very family-oriented person. I love the support and warmth a harmonic family can give you and I hope to find some persons in the USA that I could see as a kind of family, too.

My school is the Gymnasium Johanneum in PpP. It’s one of the best schools with a radius of a hundred miles. The school is an independent school agency supported by a group of missionaries called GgG JjJ Missionare. That means religion is integrated in our daily school life.
There I am in the Europe class, that’s a sort of sector for the advancement of students gifted in languages. It means that we haven’t only French lessons, but we’re also taught Politics, History and Geography in French language.
My favourite subjects except French are English, Latin, History, Geography and Music, of course. I dislike Maths, Chemestry and Phyics at all, but I am trying to get good marks either because I think school is important for your further way of life, especially concerning getting an interesting job. My teachers would describe me as a studious and responsible girl, even if I’m sometimes a bit headstrong, but nobody’s perfect I guess!
In school I get involved with collecting money for poor children all over the world. This is possible by singing in the choir or organizing charity parties.
After having finished school I would like to study psychology, but just if I can’t make my second great wish come true. This would be to study dramaturgy and music so that I could make it through to earn my money by living out my passions, acting and singing on stage.

The main reason why I decided to spend one year abroad is that I’d like to get in the way other people live in family and school life. For me, it is a great chance to understand new cultures and broaden my horizon. I also want to improve my abilities in a foreign language. Spending a year away from home may be a good way to become more independently and autonomously as well.

I hope you don’t mind my mistakes in writing (and speaking) English, I give my best to be fluent in your language. Furthermore I think my skills will be improved during my exchange.

I’m looking forward to getting to know you,

best regrets

Chiara MmM
