My students letter
Hello. Even if we don´t know each other it´s nice that you take the time to read this letter. here I want to introduce you into my life and myself. My name is Luise and it would be a pleasure to get to know you better as my maybe prospective hostfamily.
I am 14 years old and live with my mum in a house in a small city, near Berlin, called ***. When I was four, my parents got divorced and so my mum moved with my sister and me to Cottbus. I also have a sister, which is 21 now, and study in the university in Cottbus, but has her own flat. On time a week I spend the night with my sister. Then we cook and learn together and play sometimes games. In my freetime I do also sometimes things with my sister like going to concerts or going to the cinema. My familylife is a little bit complicated. That I don´t addle you I will make it short to explain it. One and a half year ago my mum meet her new boyfriend **. I like him and we understand each other very good. Thomas live with his brother and his mum in a house in ***, which is half an hour away from ***. *** has a big family and everyone is really friendy and lovelyI love it to spend time with my family, because we have always something to tell each other and to laugh.
*** has a daughter, called Maxie. Shes like a second sister to me, even if we are not related. To my luck she has the same musictaste like me and that was the first point, why we understand each other better. My favorite music is Alternative, Rock and Metal music. I don´t like mainstream music this much, because I think, they just want to make money and the lyrics don’t make sense usully. My favorite bands are Sum 41 and You me at six. But there are so many other good bands I can´t name here. In my free time I take once a week guitar lessons. I like playing guitar, covering songs and write sometimes even my own songs. I also play piano. In the end I would say I like music really much.
Under the week we are mostly in *** but on the weekend in ***. On Sunday the whole family eats mostly lunch together and sit after lunch together and talk. I like it because it is really comfortable. I have sometimes chores like tidy up my room, cleaning the kitchen or clear out the dishwasher.
I like doing sports and I did a lot in the last years, for example playing basketball, volleyball and actually I play American Football. But don´t worry. We play the soft alternative with flags. Maybe I can tell you anytime more about this. In our team we are in the main boys. There are just three girls. My two friends and I. I don´t think that this is a problem. This is one funny activity I enjoy to do this with my friends. In the winter my favorite sport is definitely snowboarding. But sadly I can do this just one week a year, because then my family (My mum, Thomas, Maxie and I) make winterholidays in the alpins, which is every time one of the best weeks in the year. It makes so much fun and I am always sad when this week is over. Fortunately our school offers this winter a skicamp where I can participate and I´m already now exited.
Under the week I visit the *** secondary school. This school is a little bit special, because we learn the language Sorbian and celebrate different traditions from a little minority in our country who called Sorbs. My favorite subjects in school are currently PE, Music, something similar to drama and English. I love speaking English and that is clearly a reason, why I want to make an exchange year. Speaking better the language and understand English speaking people better. Because in our Englishclass we speak not as much Englsih as I like. That´s a pitty how I think. Anyway. My classmates are pretty cool and we all have a good relation. In the breaks we make sometimes really crazy things and laugh really much together. In my freetime I just spend time with some of them. But the most with my best friend Netti. We have much fun together and she would say that I´m a crazy,lovely and funny friend. Other things I do with friends is for example playing music, making videos or going to the cinema.
The other time of my freetime I spend with (obvious) doing homework, surfing on the internet or watching TV. Mostly the day is fast over and I go to bed at ten o’clock usully. By the way: My favorite books are the the hunger games triology and Harry Potter. My favorite movies are (like the books)the hunger games and Catching fire movies and also all harry Potter movies.
My decision to make an exchange year in Canada was actually clear, even if I have never been there before. But I heard a lot of nice things I want to experience and enjoy by my own, like seeing the amazing landscape and nature, get to know the friendly canadian mentality or the cool school system, which you can´t compare with the German one. Why I want to do this experience now and not in maybe five years, is because the family life is different to the student life. I think to spend my exchange year in a family is better because so I can learn more about the Canadian way of life I guess. I also think that feeling like being a part of a Canadian family make it easier to feel faster home.
If you should ask yourself what I want to do in the future I can´t tell you because I don´t know it now. I don´t have exact plans for the future. After my year in beautiful Canada I want to finish school with the school leaving examination. Then I will probably start studying. But I don´t know what. Maybe Canada can inspire me. I just want to make the best of my life and I want to start with the exchange to Canada.
Once you should know that I am sometimes a little bit choosey with food and eat rather food I know than unknown food. But when I acclimatized with the Canadian food I think it will not be a big problem.
I am not this girly girl who needs one hour in front of the mirror with tons of make up and am also not mobilphone addicted. I am a lucky, funny and casual girl, which does not take everything to seriously, if there is not a real reason. Furthermore I would say that I am creative, unique, spontaneous, self-confident and honest person, because I don´t like liars and blaspheme.
I hope you have hopefully a good impression of myself and I´m really exited to get to know you as family who assure my hostfamily letter from many other ones.
In this way I hope I will see you soon and let us have an amazing time together.
