Hostfamily letter

Hallo Zusammen ! :grinning:

Dear hostfamily,

Im very grateful that you accept me as a new family member into your home for a couple of month. Im looking forward to trying new things, and learning more about your cultur.
Ive chosen the USA because many people recommended it to me after they had spent a year there. I’m so excited to learn American traditions and to see something of the USA. Now I want to tell you something about me and my daily life. Ive got two brothers called Benedikt and Valentin , we mostly live with our mother , but at the week-end wo often go to our dad. My partens are devorced since I was 10. My older brother Benedikt is 17 years old and my younger brother is 12 years old, so Im in the middle and Im 15. But when Ill come to the USA Ill be16 years old. I have a good relationship with all members of my family we often go in vacations together and try to help each other whenever we can.

Im a very open-minded person and Im interested in meeting new people.

I really love to go snowboarding and I also like to ski. Each year, in the Christmas vacations I go to Switzerland with my familie to ski and to go snowboarding. These few days a wonderful for me because here where I live is never enough snow to ski.

Summer is the time of the year I like the most. It´s really nice when it becomes warm outsides so I like to be outside mostly. What I am delighted to do is going to the beach. But also we havnt got any beach around here. So in summer I stay outside with my friends and we often go to the swimming pool. Its not as good as a beach but its also nice. My passion are horses. I love to go horseback riding so three times a week I go to a stable. In my spare time I do track and field and I play soccer so Im really into sports. I spent my after-noons in doing those activitis and meeting my friends. Once a week I go to dancing classes and I enjoy it also.

I would be lucky if I could do one of my hobbies in the USA but I`m also interested in trying typical American sports.

Im a student in 9th grade. Ive been learning English for 3 years, and Ive been learning French for 5 years, but I´m better in speaking English than French. I have not many problems in understanding English but I´m of course making some mistakes. I enjoy this language very much and I hope Ill learn a lot in my high school year abroad.

I hope we will have a good time together and that we will have some nice experiences. I will do my best to make the year with you nice for both of us.

I’m so excited to meet you.

also hier ist mein anfang, wenn mir jemand tipps geben könnte oder bessere anfänge, damit nicht immer alles mit I oder I’m anfängt, wäre ich sehr dankbar.

Dear host family,

I’m very thankful that you give me the chance to spend a year with your family. You don’t know me yet, so I would like to tell you something about me and why I want to spend a year in a different country. I think it’s great to live with an American family and learn about the country and its culture. Since I was very young it is my biggest dream. I’m also excited to learn about American traditions, for example Halloween or Thanksgiving. I’m looking forward to trying new things but I’m also a little nervous whether everything is going well.

I live with my parents, my two sisters Meike (13) and Kerstin (11) and our dog Dusty in Rheine near Minster which is no big city but also no small town. In my freetime I also spend a lot of time with my friends. However, one of my most important hobbies is music. I play the e-guitar, the clarinet and take singing lessons. For two years now, I’m e-guitarist in a band. But I also enjoy reading, drawing and when it’s warm outside going swimming and playing basketball with friends. I would describe myself as adventurous, creative and interested in meeting new people.

I’m student in the 10th grade now. I’ve been learning English for 3 years, so I have no problem to speak English almost fluently. I also learn Latin and French. In school my favorite subjects are English, Biology, German and Philosophy. But I think, this high school year abroad will be a big chance for me to learn more about the USA.

It is important to me that you handle me not like a guest, but like a real family member.
I will do my best and I think that we can learn many things of each other.

I’m looking forward to getting to know you.

Best regards,

Ina
