DANKE!

Dear Host family!

First of all I want to thank you reading my letter. I am really looking forward to stay in America for half a year. You hear a lot about the American dream and life, especially in the news and on TV. Maybe the imaginations are just stereotypes. But that’s why I am very interested in seeing this country and different culture with my own eyes and make new exciting experiences.

I was born in ******, 6 years later we moved to ****** because of my father’s profession and now I am living in ***** since 5 years. While in the first months it was a strange feeling to live in a foreign city where you do not now anything, I settled in easily.
Now I am very happy to live in this gorgeous city with many nice people.
It feels good to have friends not only at one place, but also in different areas.

At home I like to do sports for example tennis. Since one year I have tennis lessons every week and in my free time I often play with my friends thus I could maybe enter a tournament as soon as possible.
Moreover once a week a professional dancing teacher shows us the new choreographies from the current video clips. Whereas it makes so much fun, it’s very difficult and often I have to practise the dancing steps at home again. One time a Year we have a performance in a musical.
To supplement my allowance I work in a bakery on Sunday since 4 month. Although it’s more exhausting than I had imagined, I learn how to deal with my earned money and I have fun with the clients and workmates.

I’m very interested in your school system and the subjects you can take, because our school system is very different. After school-ending we could take part in a kind of community and this month I partake in a law consortium. Last school year I took part in a mediation AG and a French consortium. I think the most interesting subjects in school are languages or those which deals with economy and current news.

At the weekend I usually meet my friends and together we do activities like playing tennis, going to cinema and go shopping. On Sunday my family and I like to have brunch and to discuss actuel news. We also often play parlor games or going for a walk.

When I was 12 years old, I have already been to America with the sistercity programm of Aachen to Arlington. My mum and I lived in a very friendly host family for one week and it was one of the greatest time of my life. Every day we visit the beautiful city Washington D.C. and saw a lot of museums and for example the capitol. Although my English wasn’t that good at this time, I learned to communicate without a big vocabulary.
Moreover I take part in two exchanges to France and England. It made me so much fun because I know how to accommodate myself to other families and I take an interest in different cultures.
I think that we can learn many things from each other.

So I hope to hear from you and even more to be a part of your family for half a year.
I’m looking forward to getting to know you.

Yours sincerely,
