Host family Letter

Hey Leute,
würde mich sehr freuen wenn ihr mal über meinen host family Letter drüber schauen könntet. Hab mir teilweise „Inspiration“ bei euch geholt. Ich bedanke mich schonmal.

Dear host familiy,
Maybe you first like to know, why I want to live a complete year in another country. I really want to see how people live in other countries and I want to get totally new experiences. Of course I also want to make new friends. The United States are my favorite country because this country really fascinates me with all its nature, people and their life style and culture. My biggest wish is to live in the United States and to become an US Citizen. I have been to the U.S twice. The first time, I visited my aunt and uncle in Spokane, WA. The second time, my parents and me made a really exciting trip from Los Angeles to Orlando. I have never been to the east coast and I really want to see the landscapes there and get to know the people there. I definitely want to chase the „American Dream“.

Now, I want to tell you a bit about my family, my friends and me.
I’m Niels *** and I’m 16 years old and I live in ***, a small town in North Rhine-Westphalia. There are no big citys I could mention around here. Maybe you know Hannover, which is about one hour from here. Our whole commune has about 18.000 inhabitants. Some small villages also count towards the population.
I am an only-child and I live together with my parents and my grandmother. My mother works as a visual marketing designer at a clothes store and my father is a warehouse worker at a company that produces computers and other technical things. They both aren’t home much. When my father comes home, he usually sleeps, but he’s very active with cleaning the house at the weekends. My mother reads a lot. I help at the household with cleaning the dishes, lawnmowing and cleaning up my room.
I go to a school, which is named „Realschule“ here. In germany, we have a different school-system. I am in class 10, which is the same as the sophomore year in the U.S. My favorite subjects are English and German. I am interested in languages and other countries. This is why I learn french at school. I have also been to France with my french class and the students from grammar school. France is so different to Germany. When I’m done with „Realschule“ I will go to grammar school and after that, I want to study at a university.
In my freetime, I often do things with my friends, like walking their dog, go to the movies or just talking. We often have discussions about what happens in the world. I don’t do any kind of sport, because I’m not very sporty, but I would really like to try some of the american kinds of sport like Baseball or football. Maybe I will also try golf. I play video games a lot, maybe also more than I should. I really love music. I don’t have a favorite kind of music, but I like Raggae very much. If you have pets, that’s no problem. But I don’t really like tall and big dogs.
I describe myself as self-confident, funny, creative, friendly and reliable. I always stay calm, even if the things don’t look very good. I don’t think that it’s hard for me to find new friends, if they are in my age. In my opinion, honesty is a important trait. I’m a reliable and punctual person. I always do my homework, beside if there’s something which is really important to do. I’m never late for school. I care about other peoples opinions and I respect them. If they have a problem of any kind with me, I always try to find a solution.
Now I hope you know a bit more about me and how I live.

So I finally have to say thank you, for reading this letter, and I am really looking forward at living in the U.S, and of course, hopefully seeing you soon.

Yours sincerely,
Niels
