Host family letter :)

Hey, ich hab grade den Brief an die Gastfamilie fertig geschrieben und würde mich freuen wenn ihr kurz einen Blick rauf werft. Über Verbesserungsvorschläge würde ich mich sehr freuen!

Dear host family,

First of all I would like to thank you for reading my letter and spending time on getting to know me better. We never met – so I hope the following lines will give you an impression about me, my life in Germany and why I would like to spend a year in the USA.

My name is Kristina, I’m 15 years old and I was born the 29th of January. My friends say I’m an open minded, funny, creative and sometimes stubborn person. When I meet new people, I’m often at the beginning rather shy, but that gets better with time.

I’m living together with my mother xxx and my sister xxx. xxx’s 50 years old and works as a pharmacist. My sister is 17 years old and attends the same school as I. We three go sometimes to the cinema or do other things together. With my sister I often go shopping. My father, xxx, lives with his new fame in a village near to my home. He’s head of the directorate by Volkswagen and he has two dogs. My sister and I visit him every second weekend for two days.

In my free time I often go riding, what I do since I was five years old. I have a riding participation on a Welsh-Cop Pony. I go riding three times in the week, if the weather permits. I like nearly every animal and I already had two cavies, one cat and a sweet little hamster. I wish I could have a dog, but my mom doesn’t allow that. I go jogging with a friend of mine. Directly behind my house is a forest, where you can do that really well. If it’s warm, I often go with my friends in an open air bath in my village. All around the year my friends and I got often shopping or in the cinema in a town, which I can easily reach with the train in thirty minutes. We often cooking or baking together. In winter we go to the Christmas market or ice-skating. I also like painting, music and dancing.

I attend the 9th grade of the school in my village. At this school are more than 1000 students from the 6th grade up to the 12th. My favorite subjects are geography, art and religion. I love art, because I like painting or be creative with other themes like design. I think geography is very interesting. I like to learn more about the world and the different countries and cultures. That’s why I like religion too. I’m very interested in the different ways of living.

I want to live for five months in the US, because I’m – how I already said – very interested in other cultures. Moreover I love to travel and explore other countries and continents. I would like to go to the US, because I would like to know the “American way of life”. That means, I won’t just make holidays there, but rather really live like an American for a few months. Also I would like to improve my English, because I think I would need that in my whole life.

I would like to give an understanding to you of the German culture, if you like. I would do that as cooking German meals, show you photos or just tell you about my home country.

I look forward to the five months in the US and I’m very excited. Thanks for reading and thanks that you consider hosting me for five months. I hope I’ll hear from you and will be a part of your family.

Yours sincerely,
Kristina

Hallo Kristina,

inhaltlich finde ich ihn richtig gut, kurz und knapp und alles Wichtige ist drin.

Hab mal korrigiert, was mir spontan aufgefallen ist. Vielleicht hilft dir das eine oder andere ein bisschen. Ist natürlich immer noch nicht fehlerfrei, aber das macht ja überhaupt nichts.
