Dear host family,
my name is Shannon and I am 15 years old . First of all I want to thank you for taking the time to read my letter and to get knowing me better . I am already looking forward for staying a year abroad in your country and family .
In the following lines I want to tell you something about myself.
I am 1,57 and I have got brown hair .
I am the second oldest out of 5 kids . I have got one sister and three brothers . We live in an big city of Germany .
My father is from Ireland and my mother is from Hungry , so we speak 3 languages at home .
We are a big family and sometimes we fight but we talk a lot with each other about everything and because of that we can always solve our problems .
Every Sunday we got to church with the whole family . In the church are many youths and that’s why we have a youth group meeting every Wednesday .
I attend the secondary school and the school is 5 minutes away .
Actually I like going to school because some subjects are really interesting like English , Spanish or history and I can meet my friends everyday .
I am not just interested in languages , also in music . I am singing in quires since the age of five .
Sincerely I attend the “Musical Academy of Teens” in Hamburg . After the exchange year I want to finish the school and start studying . I am not sure what i want to do as a profession but actually I have still time to think about it
When i am not at school or at the Musical Academy I learn for school or I meet with friends . I do a lot with my friends , like swimming , bowling and camping but I think the most important is that we have fun .
My friends would describe me as a humorous, honest and flexible person. Sometimes I tend to be a bit shy when I don’t know someone very well, but that stops when I get to know him better .
Since I was a little child I like to travel around, meet foreign people, find new friends, learn the basics from many languages.
When I’m grown up I want to travel all around the world and learn as much languages as I can.
I think that in this year abroad I can learn a lot . Not just the language I can also learn something about myself and I think this will be an experience that will be useful for my future .
I also want to do an exchange year because I am very interested in other cultures and especially in your country and culture . I am very fascinated of Chile because of the variety of the landscapes and how the people live there. I am looking forward to get to know more about Chile . I had this wish already for a very long time and I am very grateful to you for fulfilling my dream and letting me stay in your family for a year . That means a lot to me .
