Gastfamilienbrief ;)

Is zwar nicht wirklich was neues, aber wär echt cool, wenn ihr noch Verbesserungsvorschläge hättet!!!
Danke schonmal im voraus für alle Antworten

Dear host family,

first of all “ Thank you” for reading this letter and getting to know me better. In the following lines I’ll try my best to give you a good impression about me.

My name is XXX, I’m 15 years old and I’ll still be then I’ll come to Canada. I’m a very open-minded person so I love it to try strange things or to meet new people but in the beginning I’m often shy and it takes me some time to start behaving as usually. My friends describe me as cheerful optimistic and helpful since I mostly see things positive and it makes me feel good to support people but they also know that sometimes I want to do to many things at the same time so I’m often very stressed and can’t make everything.

I’ve got one brother aged 12 who’s name is XXX. Together with him and my parents I’m living in a house in XXXX, a little city in the south of Germany. My father is an engineer and his workplace is about two hours away so he isn’t at home so often and my mother works as architect.I think it isn’t always easy for them to live together with me because especially in the morning I’m sometimes bad-tempered even though there’s no problem at all, but actually we’ve got a very good relationship. My family is very important to me, they encourage me and especially with my Mum I can talk about everything. If I’ve got time, I often bake a cake for my family because I like baking and thy always look forward to my results and in the holidays I mostly cook the lunch if my mother isn’t at home. I also help her with the household by setting or clearing the table or washing dishes. In fall and Winter my family and I often do trips to the mountains together for skiing or hiking. When I was younger I hated hiking. In my opinion it was boring and only waste of time but now I like It actually because of the nature, the great view and the opportunity to think during the walk .In Summer we usually spend two weeks in Italy and we’ve also visited London and Vienna already. I love travelling since in every country people live different and have got other
mindsets and habits. This cultural differences are exiting for me and that’s a reason for my decision to spend three months in Canada.

At the moment I attend 10th grade of the XXX, a girls’ school with ca 600 students. My favourite subject is chemistry because I’m interested in since but I like English and history, too. Schools fun for me most of the time because I’ve got a good relationship to most guys of my class. We go to shopping after school, laugh about stupid jokes or I explain them things they didn’t understand in the lessons. Regrettably I meet most of them only at school so this friendships aren’t so close.

But I’ve got also two friends who are very important to me. We’ve known each other
since kindergarten and we spend a lot of time together. We often go shopping together, sometimes we buy something, too, but sometimes we just dress each other with fancy clothes and laugh about how we look like then. Often this is a bit embarrassing, particularly if other people stare at us, but actually that doesn’t matter. In summer we like to go to the swimming pool or to a lake although we don’t swim that much, but lay on our towels, eat ice cream and talk most of the time. Because of this our parents can’t understand, why we have to keep talking when we’re at home again. I don’t know, too, actually but somehow, we always find something to tell each other and so in this way our phone calls often take one hour or even longer. We help each other with problems and they always understand me if my parents don’t out of their “adults’ perspective”. I am really glad to have such friends and I wouldn’t change them for anything.

In August 2011 I started to learn horseback riding. I’ve usually got one lesson a week together with two or three other people. Horseback riding is very fun for me. I love animals and in addition it’s a great feeling if things which seemed very difficult in the beginning are suddenly totally easy and I don’t have any problems to do them any more. The thing I like best in gallop. I’m not so good at it yet, I just make one round or two before my horse stops galloping but I love the speed and the movements of the horse. Mostly I’m riding on a horse called “”. He’s quite tall and sometimes a bit lazy and stubborn. Then he walks extremely slowly or stops it at all so I have to be very resolute to prevent him from doing that. For me it’s fascinating that every has got its own character and is everyday in a different mood. This way there are always other challenges but on the other hand horses are still very sensitive and recognize your feelings.

Another hobby of mine is acting. I started when I was nine years old and since that time I’ve been a member of a theatre group . The first time I took part in a play was in summer of 2010. We performed “The Hobbit”, the past prehistory of “The Lord of the Rings” , in which my role was a gnome. It was an open air acting watched by a few hundred visitors so for me this was extremely exiting. Acting is really great. It never gets boring because you’re always able to try out something new and it also helps me to become more self-confident as I often have to overcome my inhibitions .Last year for example we staged “Momo” and I had to go ballistic, shout and throw around dresses in one scene. I would had never thought that I would do this but before I did it and I was very proud. By this training things like giving a talk to my class aren’t so difficult for me any more. But, of course, theatre is also just fun. We meet once a week and if we don’t rehearse a play we play crazy games, do handicrafts or develop short scenes.

I hope now you know a bit more about me. It has been my dream to spend a few months abroad since my school offered an England exchange two years ago and probably it has been even before because I’ve got relatives in England and America and I was always fascinated by the idea of living in another country and get to know it out of an other view than a tourist’s one. I also want to improve my English because my aunt and my uncle living in England got a little daughter one year ago and I want to understand her when she starts talking and furthermore I’d like to work in an international job one day.
Tanks in advance for giving me the opportunity to be part of your live.

Ich habe aber trotzdem 2 Fehler gefunden. Am Anfang des
2 Absatzes hast du „then“ anstatt „when“ geschrieben.
