Hallo allerseits

Dear family

First of all I want to thank you for welcoming me in your family for a half year and giving me the chance to get to know more about your culture and language. It has always been a big wish of me to spend an exchange year in china, to see how a chines family lives and learn something about the chines school-system. Reasons for this are my chines friends and my dad who is often on business travel in china. They all told my about the absorbing impressions, the mentality and the open-end possibilitys, they have fascinated my by this way. I have also seen many documentarys and of cours the olympic plays in china and I’m really impressed. I aim at learning many for future, on one hand to learn more about my self, a foreign cultur and a foreign mantality and on the other hand to be able to speak mandarin.

Now i want to tell you something about me. My name is Nicole Bernoitner, im 15 years old and I’m Austrian. I have long, brown hair, blue-green eyes and I’m 1,70 meter high.
My home village is called Roßbach and is quite a small village with less than thousand inhabitants, surrounded form a nice area, lain in upperaustria, near Germany. I have a twin sister called Eva and a brother named Manuel who is 16 years old. I live together with them by my parents. My mother Erika is 42 years old and works as a mobile nurse, my father Rudolf who has just selebrated his 50th birthday is the manager of a business for building glas-machines. I’ve a good relationship to all my family members and we do a lot of thing together. For instance we make a trip to city’s and go sight-seeing, visit amusement parks or go hiking. With my siblings I can talk about nearly everything and we often have fun togeher of course there are also sometimes little conflicts but we reconcile us fast. My parents always stand behind me and back me in my wish to go to china, because they also feel confident of this country. Another very important factor are my friends, I go to school with most of them or we are together in clubs. We undertake many things, we speak boldly, go shopping, meet in the afternoon, do sports, go to the cinema or we sometimes go out in the evening.

I would describe myself as very open, because I’m always ready to get to know new thing and I’m very curious. Another character is my cooperativeness, I respect experienced people and can also take critic, which is sometimes even necessary. I’m a friendly person, like to get know new people and like to spend time with them.
My hobbys are meeting friends, doing sports, playing the transverse flute, baking, cooking, surfing in the internet, reading, traveling and a lot more. My favourite sports are tennis, volleyball, hiking and mountain biking but I also would like to get to know chines sports.
Transverse flute I have been playing since seven years with buzz and I’m an active member of our musical society, where we rehearse on time a week and we play at musical events and at churchy occasions. My ardour of baking I got to know one and a half year ago and I love to test and divise new recipes and to decorate cakes, hence I’m really clamped on chines recipes.
I also have sometimes to help in the houshold and I do things like cooking, washing the dishes, mowing and making the washings.

I’m visiting the 10th grade at the grammar school in Braunau, and I have been learning English for seven years and for one and a half year Latin. Unfortunately there is no subject for learning mandarin and so I try my best to learn basic knowledges myselfe. My favorite subjects are Maths, Music, English and Sports, but I’m also interested in sciences and other subjects.
After finishing school I supposable will study or take part at a further apprenticeship. What I will do in future I don’t know yet, but I’m sure it will be something in the social business.

For my exchange year it’s important to me that my family gladly absorbs me and that they will show and tell me about China and I gladly can tell you something about the european cultur and especially about the Austrian culture.

I’m looking forward to meet you

Yours sincerly

Hey,
