Gastfamilienbrief Japan :)

Danke schon einmal! ^ ^

Dearest Host Family.

Hajimemashite.

My name is Viviénne.

I am very pleased for your kindness of giving me the chance to make my biggest dream come true: living in Japan, it means already a lot to me.

Since I was a younger child I always dreamed of coming to Japan. All this started with my mother’s profession of teaching German as a foreign language to members from the Japanese Ambassy.
Because of that we always had many Asian lectures at home which were always attracting me.
Also my father was often explaining and showing me photographs from Japan after his business travels to Japan.

To answer the question what was always attracting me about Japan is very simple: nearly everything. It is so interesting to see how different Japanese lifestyle is in comparison with a normal western life.
I really admire the old traditions and as well the new brilliant technology which is so well known all over the world.

In my hometown we haven’t got many of those old traditions anymore because here are over 149 nations living. So of course here is a big exchange of the cultural differences, languages and behaviors from the different nations, but there are no fixed traditions everyone has to follow. I am by myself also mixed. My mother is German and my Father came from Hungary to Germany, where they first met.

I am really thankful that I was raised up binational, so I was teached right from the start to be open minded and to be interested in others. I think it’s always surprising how many chances that life gives us. So I am especially thankful for the opportunity to come and visit Japan.

Also my interests and hobbies are connected to Asia. I play for example the bamboo flute Shakuhachi. I’ve got lessons every second week but I also practice at home. Because of the notation which is in Japanese I’ve started learning Japanese. Sadly my Japanese isn’t very good, but I will study a lot to improve it.
Started learning Japanese also helped me with reading manga. Because many manga are still with some descriptions in Japanese, even though when they’re already translated.

But not just with reading and understand manga it helped me, also with karate.

Namely I joined the karate club in my school just that school year and it is so much fun. Before I joined the karate club I was in the rowing club, but my teacher sadly became I’ll and I wanted to still do any sports. So my classmate asked me to come with her to that club and I am so happy today that she asked me to do so.

And when I am not studying for school, languages, Shakuhachi or karate I participate in a show group which is combining modern anime with traditional fairytales and make out of those combined stories musicals and theatre plays.

So I am going to my show group training on Friday evening and Saturday mornings when everything for school is done and there aren’t many tests. Otherwise I use normally my weekends for studying and enjoy cooking together with my mother. I live just together with my mum, because my parents are separated.

When school starts again I am always looking forward to the English, Biology, History and Geography lessons. Those are my favorite subjects. But I especially like English. In my opinion communication is really important to understand and exchange ideas each other, so I really enjoy learning more about the language which gives me the ability to communicate with people from all over the world.

It’s not just English what is interesting me, as I already mentioned I do like Biology a lot so I want to go to University after school and study biology there. Afterwards I hope to get three years of instruction for becoming a patent lawyer afterwards.
I think that this is a good possibility to get a high knowledge and I think it is also so interesting to find out new things.
That is also why my friends and family are supporting me with that because they think I am an open personality who is trying to give her best to reach her goals.

And one goal is reached now: coming to Japan. Thanks to you because you give me the opportunity to experience the Japanese lifestyle.
Thank you very much for reading this letter and I hope to meet you soon.

Dozo Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu.
