GASTFAMILIENBRIEF

Hey freunde,
LG :+1:

Dear host family,

First of all I want to thank you for reading my letter and giving me the opportunity to live a half-year in the U.S.
To make your decision easier I want to give you a little impression about who I am.

My name is xxxx , I’m sixteen years old and a vegetarian.
I live in the capital of Germany, which is called Berlin.

My family that means my mom ( xxxx ) my dad ( xxxx ) my half-sister ( xxxx ) and our cat are an important point in my life and i spend a lot of time with them.
Altough my parents are divorced I still have a very good touch to my father and I visit him every weekend.
He works in a car dealership and I often help him to clean the cars or something like that.

In my freetime I like it to doing any kind of sports. I go jogging reguarly and my passion is it do dancing. When I was a little girl at the age of 7 years I started dancing and I have already taken part in many competitions.
Next to sports I’m interested in photography, reading books, travel in different countries, eating and like every normal teenager meeting my friends. But sometimes I like it to just relax and sleeping.

I am looking forward to my first American school day. Here in Germany the school is a little bit different than in the USA. The education usually starts at 7.55 am and ends at 2.30 pm. If there are sport fans like me then there have to do it privately. Thats why I especially like it that there are so much sport offered after school.
I’m in 11th grade right now and my favourite subjects in school besides englisch are biology and history.

I like to try new things, find out about different cultures, people and languages. I think that living in the U.S.A will be an awesome experience for me and that it will have a big influence of my life and personality. As well I hope that after the time in your family, America will be a second home to me. I’m happy that I will soon get the chance to get to know the country and the American way of life.

I really thank you for reading this letter and hope you forgive me all the faults. I hope you’re going to be MY host family and if so, thank you very much!

is it do dancing - hä?
people - Leute oder Völker? Wenn du Völker meinst, dann peoples
Besser: I’m happy that I will soon get the chance to get to know YOU, the country and the American way of life.

" is it to dancing "
trotzdem falsch ?

Also entweder „is dancing“ oder „is it to dance“
Je nachdem wies in den Text passt…

Bei: But sometimes I like it just to relax and sleeping.
Entweder: … just to relax and sleep
Oder: …I like just relaxing and sleeping.

„To make your decision easier I want to tell you something about who I am.“
„In my free time I like doing any kinds of sports. I go jogging regularly and my passion is dancing. When I was a seven-year-old girl I started dancing…“
„travelling, (…)“ → in different countries weglassen
„and as every normal teenager I like meeting my friends. But sometimes I enjoy it just to relax and maybe to sleep“ (obwohl sich auch schlafen merkwürdig anhört, von wegen Eindruck, wie schon vor mir gesagt wurde)
„Here in Germany the school is a little bit different from school in the USA. If there are sport fans like me, they have to do sports/it (hört sich beides nicht so toll an, aber egal…) privately. That’s especially the reason why I like it, that there are so many sports offered after school in the USA. (…) english (…).“
