Der berühmte "Host Family Letter" :)

Hey Leute!
Es wäre wirklich toll, wenn ihr euch mal meinen „Host Family Letter“ anschauen könntet. Verbesserungen und Kritik sind immer willkommen!

Dear host family,
As the first thing, I thank you for reading my letter. Since we haven’t met yet, I would like to tell something about me, just to give you an expression of my personality. Also, I want to tell you about what I do in Germany and why I decided to spend a year abroad in the USA.
My name is Lukas and I am a fourteen year-old boy from a small town which is very close to the capital of Germany, Berlin. My Parents and my Friends describe me as a self-confident, optimistic, open-minded, creative and sporty person. I love to laugh with my friends and family and even if the situation is the worst you could ever imagine, I try to get the best out of it.
I live together with my parents, my two younger brothers, my younger sister and my dog. I get along very well with my whole family. My Father works as a Manager at a local Cable Provider and my mom stays at home doing the housework. In our house, doing the housework can easily become too exhausting, so I try to help my mother whenever she needs a second hand. Since I got a pet, I need to be reliable. I got my first pet when I was five years old. This taught me pretty early, what it means to assume responsibility. Also, I often play with my siblings when they are bored, which doesn’t happen too often because we are such a big household compared to the average. I am actually a very clean, organized person and every time you will go to my bedroom, it will reflect that.
Currently I attend the 10th grade of a private Christian school, which is not too far away from my place. My favorite subjects are English, Music, Physics and Chemistry. Because I love foreign languages, I chose French after the 6th grade as an additional subject. Since our school is characterized Christian, our class prepares two worships every year. In addition to that, our class is socially engaged. When I attended the 8th and now the 10th grade, I worked in a home for disabled people. When class is finished, everyone has the opportunity to go to several clubs which my school offers after class. Currently I attend the debating club, the juggling club and sometimes I attend the basketball club. School is fun for me because I see nearly all of my friends there and I enjoy learning the most time. This is also why I want to be an exchange student- I love to learn about a new place, a new culture and I can’t think of a better way to do that!
After school I often got spare time for my other hobbies. As example I am member of our local swimming club and train each week. Besides that I have other interests and music is one of them. I am playing the piano for nine years now and I love improvising Jazz. I also used to play the trumpet for two years. One of my greatest hobbies is also turning movies. When I got time I take my camera, invite my friends and turn a movie with them. When they got no time, I turn movies by myself too. I also really enjoy the process of editing the footage I shot. This may take certain hours, but I think it’s worth it because it really makes a lot of fun. I am also very much into graphic design with Photoshop on the computer. As example I take some photos outside and then I edit them. Sometimes I don’t take any photos and create something from scratch. When I invite my friends, I also like to play some video games with them too.
Speaking of friends, I really like to do a lot with them. Because we live so close to Berlin, we often go to the cinema, hanging out in the shopping mall or visit Starbucks. Friends are really important to me – without them, my life would be very boring. We also like to do sleepovers or go swimming. We always have a funny, good time together.
Overall, I think that I am a pretty nice person. I love to have fun and sometimes be crazy. I also appreciate the art of conversation and beauty with people you love. I am always trying to live life to its fullest.
Maybe you will ask yourself why I want to be an exchange student in the USA. First of all, I always loved travelling. Because I never was somewhere far away from my place, I often have itchy feet. I love meeting new people, talk to them and learning from their backgrounds because I believe that everyone has an interesting story. Overall, experience a new culture and live in a different way would be very interesting. Because of that, one of my goals in life is to travel all over the world! Also, I think it’s a great way to meet completely new people, living the “American way of life” and of course, improve my English skills.
I am so ecstatic about getting to know you and your country! I really look forward to being immersed in another way of life and learning about the world outside of my own backyard. Thank you so much for the opportunity to do that!
Sincerely,
Lukas

ICH HABE MAL VERSUCHT EIN BISSCHEN WAS ZU VERBESSERN  IST ECHT NICHT SCHLECHT UND DU WIRST SEHR SYMPATISCH ABER ICH WÜRDE DEN BRIEF VIELLEICHT EIN BISSCHEN KÜRZEN
LIEBE GRÜßE B.G.

Also ich finde deinen Brief echt gut!
