Dear Host Family letter- bitte verbessern!

Hier mal wieder ein Host-Family-letter. Ich bitte um Verbesserung, Tips etc.
Danke schon mal im voraus :grinning:

Dear Host Family,

First of all I want to thank you for reading my letter and give me the possibility for spending almost one year with your family. I’m exited about it and I’m really happy that my dream will come true. As we don’t know each other yet I’m going to introduce you my family, my friends and my life.

I’m living with my family in ********, a small village with 2200 inhabitants, in Bavaria. Our house is next to my grandmother’s house therefore I see her very often. My other grandparents and a lot of my relatives are living in a village only 2 and half miles away from us. The whole family meets up for birthdays and other parties what’s always great fun.
My father (48 years old) is an electrical engineer, I get on well with him because our characters are pretty similar. My mother (43 years old) works in an hospital, in a city which is about 12 miles away from home, as nurse. She’s very loving and she always cares about my sister and me. My sister (13 years old) is attending the same high school than I do. Although our personalities are very different and we argue sometimes, we’re nearly all the time like really good friends. When she has problems with her homework, I’m there for helping her.

Apart of my family, my friends and my hobbies are the most important things in my life. But first of all: my friends.
I’ve got pretty many good friends but two of them are my best friends. I’ve known them since I was born we’re a really good team. I love spending my time with my friends. We’ re going to swimming pool, the movies, shopping or we’re just hanging out for talking and laughing together. I’m glad to know that I can trust every single of them. My friends are sad that they won’t be able to see me during my exchange year but they’re also happy that I’m so brave and they’re wishing me only the very best.

I really love my hobbies because they’re a part of me. I like biking with my father. I’m riding my bike on average two times a week (in the summer more often, in the winter less). Since one and a half year I’ve been taking guitar lessons with a friend of mine weekly. When I was younger, I was playing the flute in a church group, until I recognized that playing the guitar means more fun to me. In the evening I prefer reading a good book, listening to music or just watching TV for relaxation. At week-end I’m going horse riding in a village nearby. I’ve been riding for 8 years now so I’m pretty good at it but I’m sad not to have the money and the time you need for your own horse. Since the last September I’m playing Intercrosse in a school club. It’s great fun but unfortunately the teacher will have to leave our school in March. My family and me loves travelling, we’ve been to many countries yet e.g. England, Tunisia and Morocco.

You probably wonder why I want to become an exchange student. I’d like to get to know another country, its culture and its inhabitants. I’m also interested in improving my English skills. I think the USA is the best country for such an adventure. I’m sure I’ll miss my family and my friends in Germany but the experiences I’ll gain during this year will be much worthier.

I really like my school because it offers a lot of activities and it’s in contact with schools in other countries for example France, India or England. I also like that you can take part in journeys and student exchanges. I’m in the ninth grade and I’m class representative. At my school I’m participating the drama club and a club, in which we plan projects against mobbing and racism. My favorite subjects are English, French, History and Chemistry. Every morning I go to school by train for 5 miles. I like being at school because there I can always meet my friends and my classmates.
I would describe me as outgoing, friendly, tolerant, responsible and also talkative.

I hope you like my letter and I’m looking forward to getting to know you better.

Lots of love from Germany,

danke für tipps
