wer von euch hat sich denn bei STS beworben? Also ich hab mich für Neuseeland beworben und hab mein AWG am 13. Oktober in München, wer noch?

also bei mir wars so dass ich ein einzelgespräch bei der frau zuhause hatte. ich denk eig au das das bei sts immer so is.
ach das is echt sehr cool gewesen bei mir 
also ich hatte meins am letzten samstag und das lief eigntlich ganz locker, war zwar doof, dass das in einem dorint hotel war, aber mein interviewer hat des vorgeschlagn.
zuerst hat der was über die orga erzählt unddann noch n bissl üba sich und so formeller kram. und dann sollst du auch etwas üba dich erzähln, etwa so, wie in dem personal essay.

also ich musste nix auf englisch erzähln, das lief alles auf deutsch ab.
und soweit ich weiß MUSS ein eleternteil dabei sein. hat der interviewer jednfallns gesagt, aber genauer weiß ich da auch net becsheid.
ich hab mich davor total verrückt gemacht, aussprache und so geübt und dan hab ich s doch net gebraucht:grin:

also STS is glaub ich jez net soo die riesnorga aba ganz klein sind die auch net. ich hab mal gefragt, wie viele etwa so jährlich nach kanada fahrn, aber mein intervoiewer konnt mir da kene genauen angabn gebn. aber so massnaustasche machn die netxD

meine interviewerin meinte nach neuseeland würden jedes ma totaaal viele gehen und das wär fast so überrannt wie USA !!! Naja ich bin voll zufrienden mit STS bisher obwohl ich ja noch nich sowiel mit denen gemacht hab

@Johannes: war dein AWG auch nur auf Deutsch? naja, muss ja net unbedingt schlecht sein, wenn nach Neuseeland gaaanz viele mit STS fahrn…hast du auch schon ne Zusage bekommen?aber auf jeden Fall dir auch vieeel Glück
an euch beide;) : der personal essay soll doch nicht an die gastfamilie gerichtet sein, wie ein dear host family letter, oder? weil anhand von dem text wird man doch unter anderem von der Familie ausgesucht, oder? Drum bin ich mir da jetzt net ganz sooo sicher…
also, das is schon der host fam letter. den schickn die dann gleich weiter. also weniger arbeit:P
und die familie entscheidet an:
- den personal essay
- die persönlichn daten etc.
3 an nem familienalbum, sprich fotos von deinem lebn
also, schreib den direkt an die fam.

doch bin scho angeommen un der vertrag is abgeschickt ! Nö bei mir war noch ein Englischinterview über mich selber und so dabei das so etwa 20-30 Minuten gedauert hat…
Also das personal essay soll mit dear host family anfangen und ganz schön beschreiben auf englisch wer du bis wie du so lebst und so weil das geht an die gastfamilie und wird bei anderen orgas dann auch gastfamilien brief genannt !!!
( Die Freien Zeilen brauchst du damit der Briefkopf noch drüba passt !)

Thank you for your interest in my application and for becoming my host family in Canada. Now I would like to introduce myself to give you a first impression of me and my life.
My name is NAME and I am 15 years old. I was born on 3rd of June, 1992. I live with my family in STADT. It is a nice city with approximately 90000 inhabitants in West-Germany. The biggest cities in the surrounding area are Dortmund, Münster and Cologne.
I am 1,91 m tall and have about 70 kgs, which may look quiet thin. Exept my blue eyes and my short brown hair there is not much else to mention.
I am attending 10th grade of the “NAME“- a local secondary school.
My family: that is my mother NAME, my father NAME, my brothers NAME and NAME and my sister NAME. We also have a dog called NAME, a cat called NAME, and one guinea-pig named NAME.
NAME, my mother, is 46 years old and she is now becoming a secondary-school teacher. She is a member of the church choir and a bible group. Due to her new work, my brothers, my sister and I have to take over more responsibilities than before.
My father NAME is 47 years old and he is an engineer, employed by a copper recycling company in Lünen. In his free time he likes to do everything dealing with wood, for example wood turnery, and different kinds of metal work. He also likes to do sports. In the age of 18 he spent one year in Australia as a youth exchange student.
NAME, 22 years old, is a carpenter by trade while he is doing the german high school diploma in the evenings. Lateron he intends to study mechanical engineering somewhere.
My brother NAME, 20 years old, is in 13th grade at “NAME“-secondary school. In Germany the13th grade is the last year before taking the high school diploma. At the moment he is not sure what to do afterwards, maybe some kind of artist.
NAME, 17 years old, is at the same school as David, but she is in class 12. In her free time she works in the “Bodyshop“ in Dortmund. I do not know whether you have “Bodyshop“ in Canada. It is a shop selling cosmetics.
My free time I spend with my friends. My best friends are NAMEN. They are attending the same school as me, but unfortunately we are not in the same class. Both of them are already 16 years old. I like to attend parties with them, but sometimes we are just watching a film or doing stuff like that. My friends will be sad when I will leave but they are able to see the great chance for me in such a year.
My family and me, we are living in our own house with a little garden in the northern part of STADT. Here everyone of us have a little room for ourselves. Our house is well situated, because there is a forest next to our house. There is a little lake nearby, too. That is great for going for a walk as I enjoy the nature. The city centre can be reached well from our house by bicycle. From our point of view Lünen is a small town, so I often go to the bigger city of Dortmund with about 500,000 inhabitants by train.
Next door my father`s parents are living in a separate home, so they are coming along quiet often.
My school is a grammar school with about 1200 pupils, it is only 10 minutes by bike. It is a 40 years old concrete building. After the 13 th grade I will take my high school diploma. In Canada I intend to attend the grade suiting to the 11th German grade, and coming back I plan to continue with grade 12, due to my present good report marks in many subjects. In my class there are 31 pupils, which is a big class for us. At the moment I´m doing 3 foreign languages at school, English, French, and Latin. In the past I also did some Italian. In November I will take part in a Latin competition of our province. At the moment I´m doing an additional course about law knowledge. In the class and school affairs I`m also very engaged. Last year I was the class representative.
My interests are cultural things like museums, history, politics, economy, international affairs and our animals. Especially I´m looking after my guinea pig for already 7 years now. Later I might become a lawyer or a buisiness economist. Furtheron I like to test different kinds of sports like snow skiing, wind surfing, walking with our dog etc. For already 6 months I´m doing sports in a fitness center. A lot of time I´m spending with my friends and some times I like to be with myself ( computer, TV, books).
Last year my school has organized an exchange week to a Dutch school and family. There I made many friends whom I´m still having contact to. In September 2006 I spent one week in the Netherlands, in March 2007 my exchange partner came to our home as a return visit. Being in the Netherlands my host family made me a member of the family for a while and I got used to speek some English.Being in Lünen I enjoyed to organize a lot of activities with our guests and friends, for example a visit to Dortmund city and other local points of interest.
There is a number of reasons for my interest in going to a foreign country for one year: With my family I have visited a number of European countries and in 1999 Australia, which was very interesting for me. These trips also correspond with my cultural interest. I also heard a lot of my father`s youth exchange experiences and we had some Australians for a visit at home. My own experience with our Dutch exchange was very valuable and it finally supported my big interest in going overseas. In Canada I hope to learn something about different cultures living together in one country. Looking to nature I would also like to experience what the famous Canadian winter means. Another aspect for me is to see how the modern Canadians live today and what Canadians think about there own history. This way I could learn how state and society work in Canada. Staying in a new family I hope to become a normal member of the family with responsibilities and rights.
I´m looking forward to have a great year in Canada and will do everything I can to make it a great year also for you, my host family.This short letter can only give a first idea, which perhaps meets your expectations. Then I would be happy to hear more about you or let you know more about me and hopefully see you next year in Canada

glückwunsch das ihr angenommen seid ABER ich hab nur schlechte erfahrungen mit sts gemacht… ja am anfang also da wo ihr grad so steht dachte ich auch man wie gut die sind so organisiert und nett aber DANN.
hab meine gastfamilie erst 5 tage vor abreise bekommen und ganz knapp noch den schulstart mitbekommen… ich kenne 3 leute die erst mitte/ende oktober hier ankamen und jap … die orga hier is dumm. man muss für alles extra bezahlen und so.
naja ich hoffe eurer jahr wird toll!!!

bist du zur zeit in schweden? wenn ja, erzähl doch mal, wie es sonst so ist und vor allem,wie es mit deine gastfamilie läuft…ich mein, ob sich das lange warten ‚gelohnt‘ hat…ach ja: was musstest du denn noch extra zahlen

man mus zb die treffen noch mal komplett bezahlen… also nix mit ma treffen und so. voll dumm. ich hab 200 euro für ein wochenende bezahlem müssen…
das kotzt mich voll an eigentlich. ja meine familie ist nett, mein betreuer total scheiße. meldet sich NIE und is unfähig. na ja ich hab mir jetzt ne andere STS tante als ansprechpartnerin gesucht (die, die die gastfamilien sucht) joaa sonst is es eigentlich ok hier. geht eigentlich allen gut soweit ich weiß. also keiner hat bis jetzt gewechselt außer eine und die nur weil das dorf so klein war. na ja ich find STS trotzdem net sooo doll… aber das muss jeder selbst entscheiden…

hab auch alle unterlagen abgeschickt und warte auch ne antwort…
weiß vllr jemand von euch ob man direkt danach aufgenommen wird oder ob man noch etwas ausfüllen muss?
ja, die zu- oder absage bekommst du nach dem awg. und wenn du angenommen wirst, musst du danach noch einige unterlagen ausfüllen.LG
also die schlechten erfahrungen mitSTS kann ich nur bestätigen - das sc heint ja schon fast zu ihrem programm zu gehören, dass sie vorher viel versprechen und nachher vor ort nichts halten. Wir hatten auch extreme probleme mit dem angeblich so tollen ansprechpartner vor ort.
Die betreuung fand überhaupt nicht statt, der regionalkoordinator hat uns belogen (wirklich, ein erwachsener mann! und einer, der im notfall helfen sollte!!) - und dann meine tochter und ihre gasteltern der lüge bezichtigt - und dokumente gefälscht. Er wurde erst nach langem und mühsamem hin- und her-schreiben ausgetauscht; esgab von STS noch nicht mal eine vernünftige entschuldigung, geschweige denn ein entschädigungsangebot. Anscheinend fandensie es gar nicht weiter schlimm, dass ihr ansprechpartner ein betrüger war. Wenn wir noch mal wählen könnten, würden wir STS auf gar keinen fall nehmen.

Ich bin jetzt seit 7 Monaten mit STS in Prince George (British Columbia - Canada) und an meiner Orga habe ich absolut nichts auszusetzen!!!
Sie sind da, wenn man sie braucht und kuemmern sich dann auch sofort um einen!
Ueber meinen Area Rep. kann ich mich ueberhaupt nicht beschweren, denn sie stellt staendig Reisen und Treffen der Austauschschueler auf die Beine!
Also von meiner Seite aus kann ich nur gutes ueber STS sagen!

Naja, jetzt ja schon wieder nen paar Monate her ^^ Aber trotzdem wollt ich den Threat ma wieder rauskramen…
Mal kurz zur zwischenzeit: Eigentlich bin ich immer noch sehr zufrieden, allerdings hat sich der anfang der gastfamiliensuche bei mir verzögert, weil die wohl eine Unterlage nicht bekommen haben von mir, haben die dann aber erst nen paar monatchen später mal gesagt. Naja jedenfalls suchen sie jetzt und eigentlich find ich bisher, dass die zum Glück recht oft mal infos schicken, bald ist ja dann auch vbt…
Wie läufts bei euch beiden anderen so ?
Ehm Johanna, danke total das du was positives schreiben kannst, weil ich auch schon recht viel negatives gehört hab… Ich hoff einfach das es bei mir nicht so ist, allerdings glaube ich ja auch irgendwie, das bei einigen vielleicht einfach so die Offenheit für manche sachen fehlt, zum Beispiel wenn sie zu Mormonen oder so kommen, solange die nicht Orgien feiern, find ich sollte man sich das doch wenigstens mal ansehen…
Also wahrscheinlich empfindet jeder andere sachen als No-Gos. Und so viel wie ich mitlerweile schon gelesen hab und so weiter von ATS, müsste ich doch schon so auf so einiges eingestellt sein ( das ging so von Alkoholikerfamilie bis hin zu der Drogen nehmenden Gastschwester ^^ auch von anderen Orgas ) aber auch bei anderen Orgas gibts probleme!
Mal hoffen das ich bald meine Gastfamilie bekomme Ich hoff mal das ich STS nicht sooooo nerve, weil ich immer wenn mir was komisch vorkommt sofort anrufe 
aber durch die ganzen negativsachen wird man skeptisch !
