Host family letter- passt das so?

Ich habe nun meinen Gastfamilienbrief fertig. Kann ich das so an meine zukünftige Familie senden? :grinning:

Dear Host Family,
My name is Larissa Abfalterer and I’m 15 years old. My birthday was in October so that’s how old I’m going to be during my time in Britain. I’m a calm and balanced person. Besides I am attentive, empathetic and justice oriented.
I live in Austria, in Tyrol together with my mum and my sister. The village in which I live is called Dölsach. It’s between the mountains and has about 2 thousand habitants. I have a very close relationship to my mum Josefine and my sister Patrizia. Together we live in a big house with a big garden. In our house there are several flats which my Mum rents. My sister is 17 so she still goes to school.
I’m in the 10th grade. In my school you can choose electives from the 10th grade. I chose English-history and Theatre. My favourite subjects are English, French, History and of course my electives.
My day normally starts at 6:30am. I’m taking about half an hour for my morning routine. Some minutes after 7:00am I’m going to school with the bus. My school starts at 8:00am and ends between 12:30 and 17:30pm. Afterwards I’m eating lunch or dinner and I’m doing my homework. Depending on when my school ends I spend my leisure time with my hobbies and in the evening I’m learning and watching TV or I read.
In my free time I like to read and to write my own stories. Besides I like acting or playing theatre, designing clothes and interior and particularly learn languages. For example next to my main language German, I speak English and I’m learning French – in school – and Swedish – on my own. I also do sport namely tennis.
I hope that in my time in Britain I will get to know you and your culture. I want to see the differences of the school system and the daily live. Besides I always dreamed of visiting a real high school. During those one and a half months I want to improve my English and to find many new friends. As well I want to have fun with you and the people I’ll go to class with.
At the end, I want to thank you so much for giving me the chance to spend my time with you and getting to know your language, your everyday life and your culture. I’m looking forward to living with you.

Du solltest den Gastfamilienbrief besser im Forum für Austauschschüler posten, um mehr Antworten zu bekommen. Das Forum für Gastfamilien ist da für Fragen von Familien, die Gastfamilie sind oder werden wollen, und für private Gastfamilienanzeigen.

Ich habe deinen Brief einmal angeschaut und einige Dinge korrigiert, was mir aufgefallen ist und einige Vorschläge bezüglich Ausdruck und Inhalt gemacht.

Meine Kommentare:

  1. „Justice-oriented“ ist ein ziemlich förmlicher Ausdruck und ich weiß auch nicht, was du damit ausdrücken wolltest?

  2. Ich fände es eher umständlich und unnötig, zu schreiben, dass du immer noch 15 Jahre alt bist, wenn du nach England kommst.

  3. Den Satz, dass du gerne eine „real high school“ besuchen würdest, würde ich eher nicht schreiben. Das fände die Gastfamilie wohl eher verwirrend, schließlich besuchst du auch in Deutschland eine echte „high school“, bloß dass sie hier anders heißt und ein anderes Schulsystem hat.

  4. Ich würde nicht immer schreiben „I want“, sondern gelegentlich eher „I would like“ oder auch einmal „I would love“, das klingt beides höflicher als „Ich will dies und das“ und die Engländer stehen auf sowas.

  5. Wenn du dein Tagesablauf beschreibst, solltest du die normale Präsensform nutzen (I do, I go, I learn …).

  6. „To rent“ heißt „mieten“. Das solltest du schreiben, wenn du ausdrücken willst, dass deine Mutter mehrere Wohnungen in eurem Haus angemietet hat. Ich glaube, du meinst aber eher, dass deine Mutter diese Wohnungen an andere Leute vermietet hat, oder? Das würde dann „to let“ heißen, wobei ich mir nicht sicher bin, wie genau der Satz dann lauten müsste.

  7. Ich persönlich würde vielleicht die Erwartungen, die du in deinem letzten Absatz beschreibst, ein wenig zurückhaltender formulieren. Schließlich scheinst du für nur sechs Wochen (?) dort hinzufahren und nicht für ein ganzes Jahr oder ähnliches. Das ist aber sicher auch Geschmackssache und man kann die Formulierungen sicher auch verschieden auslegen.
